Hidden Valley was for myself & my two special needs children, the getaway to beat all getaways! We were given the freedom, luxury and above all clean environment to restore our souls after the harshness of urban living. The children found emotional healing through bonding with the farm animals, especially the free running dogs, Lucy, Elsie & a late visitor Coconut the Samoyed. As a busy sole parent, Hidden Valley is the ONLY place I don't need to constantly worry about my children’s' wellbeing because I know that there is nothing there that will harm them, on the contrary all the natural bushland and wild raw mountainscape taught us the very valuable lesson that 'life' is not about possessions or even social advancement. LIFE IS and God willing will always be. There is no better place to reset your internal direction than the Hidden Valley Homestead (but don't tell those people with the SUV and the contempt for the environment, because we want the Valley to stay as we discovered it- lovingly nurtured and nurturing!)

Hope Ministry in the Bush is a mission with Salvation Army Newcastle Corp. We went on our first retreat to Hidden Valley. From the moment the ladies arrived there was a sense of awe both the the surroundings and the animals. Their rooms and beds were very comfortable. The food and dining setting was just right and just enough.

Penelope and Michael welcomed us and made everyone feel important and the whole weekend even the chapel made the time unforgettable for everyone. Lucy and Elsie showed up at just the right time to cheer someone who needed a non human touch.

Our group of ladies will never be the same, thank you for that extra touch of love and the sense of setting out the best just for us for that weekend. Blessings to you both. Lil' and all the team and new friends of the Hope Ministry in the Bush.

I needed a break! I wanted to feel special & relaxed so my husband found Hidden valley for me. What a treat it was. The food was so delicious. I sat by the fire in the afternoons and read. In the mornings after a beautiful sleep in the cosy comfy wrought iron bed (the room is so cute) we went for a relaxing walk and came back to a yummy morning tea of freshly baked muffins and slices! I'm going home feeling refreshed, relaxed and renewed! Thank you for that experience. We are coming back in January with the children!

We will never forget our new friends at Hidden Valley who have made us feel so welcome and so at home. Penelope & Michael have done everything possible to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The food has been outstanding...It seems each meal has been more delicious than the last. We had the best time at Hidden Valley recently over the October long weekend. We were a group of three families including 6 children aged 12 months to 10. We stayed in the Bunk house and had so much fun!

The children loved Elsie the dog, and the tree house was a firm favourite with two of our children who virtually lived up there for most of their stay.

The bunk house is well set up and we found it suited our purposes well.

We were travelling through so decided to have a break before our next stop! The kids had so much fun that they didn’t want to leave! They loved the bunk beds in the Bunk house and had so much fun reading at night with their own ‘character type’ bed lights.

We’ll be back...or the kids won’t forgive me.

Thank you so much for our wonderful break. The peace & quiet plus the food was fantastic. The kids had a ball even if I had to stop them from smuggling two chickens into the boot of the car when we were leaving. We’ll be back.

I loved this place so much because this was the first time I have been to the country. I loved climbing the cubby house and playing near the creek. Not to mention the animals especially Elsie- I hope Mum brings us back soon.

I wanted to surprise my wife and children by taking them away somewhere special. None of us were disappointed! The food & service was 5 star quality, in fact we enjoyed every meal and were surprised at the excellent presentation out here in the bush! My son had a special experience as he was able to help Mr Michael with some farm duties which made him feel very special & important. My daughter loved playing with all the animals and feeding the calves! My wife relaxed, had a break, did nothing but enjoy herself which I was so pleased about. Thank you Hidden Valley for a truly wonderful time.
